Morris Washington, M.D., FACS, a general surgeon who has specialized in advanced laparoscopic surgery, bariatric surgery and gastrointestinal endoscopy. He has a surgical practice in Freehold, New Jersey, called Endo-Surgical Associates of Central Jersey. In 2003 Dr. Washington performed the first laparoscopic colon resection, the first pancreatic resection, the first paraesophageal hiatal hernia repair, and the first gastric bypass for morbid obesity at CentraState Healthcare System in Freehold, New Jersey, where he is currently affiliated. At CentraState Medical Center, Dr. Washington has established the first Comprehensive Bariatric Surgical Weight Loss Program. Dr. Washington is board certified and licensed to practice medicine and surgery in both New Jersey and New York.

Dr. Washington's numerous medical credentials include a medical degree from New York Medical College, Valhalla, New York, and a surgical residency and endoscopic fellowship at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York. The later he accomplished under a worldwide pioneer in the flexible endoscopy, Dr. Hiromi Shinya. Dr. Washington's undergraduate instruction was from the Sophie Davis Center for Biomedical Education at the City University of New York.

Dr. Washington's prestigious academic appointments include: Director of Surgical Endoscopy, St. Vincent's Hospital and Medical Center, New York; Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery, New York Medical College; Clinical Instructor of Surgery, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, New York. Prior to his affiliation with CentraState, he worked at St. Vincent's Hospital and Medical Center and Beth Israel Medical Center, both in New York.

Dr. Washington is a member of several esteemed medical associations, such as the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), the American Medical Association (AMA), the American Society for Bariatric Surgery (ASBS) and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE). He is also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). Dr. Washington has been published extensively, gives presentations nationwide, and lectures continually in the field of advanced laparoscopic surgery, bariatric surgery and gastrointestinal endoscopy.

Dr. Washington resides in Millstone Township, New Jersey with his family. In his free time, Dr. Washington enjoys boating.

Timeline for Dr. Washington:

  • 2006 New York fellowship trained advanced laparoscopic/bariatric surgeons Lisa Dobruskin, MD and Ragui Sadek, MD join Endo-Surgical Associates of Central Jersey, LLC.

  • 2005 Endo-Surgical Associates of Central Jersey records one hundred gastric bypass surgeries performed at CentraState Medical Center and introduces
    the laparoscopic adjustable gastric band for treatment of obesity.

  • 2004 Dr. Washington performs the first laparoscopic nissen fundoplication at
    CentraState Medical Center and establishes anti-reflux laboratory providing
    wireless pH testing (Bravo) and manometry.

  • 2003 Dr. Washington, opened Endo-Surgical Associates of Central Jersey in Freehold, New Jersey. Dr. Washington performed the first laparoscopic colon resection, the first pancreas resection, the first paraesophageal hiatal hernia repair, and the first gastric bypass for morbid obesity at CentraState Healthcare System in Freehold, New Jersey.   • 1988 Dr. Washington became affiliated with Beth Israel Medical Center, New York. He completed his endoscopic fellowship the same year.

  • 1987 Dr. Washington completed his surgical residency at Beth Israel Medical Center.

  • 1983 Dr. Washington became licensed to practice medicine in New York.

  • 1982 Dr. Washington completed his medical education at New York Medical College, Valhalla, New York.
